AboutThe ups and downs of the economy and the aging "baby boomers" has created even greater demand for services relating to estate planning, elder law, probate administration and Medicaid reviews. The most frequently asked questions now are, "How do I avoid Probate?", "Do I need a Trust?" "Will we lose our home if my husband or I go into a nursing home?" and "Why is it important to have a financial power of attorney, living will and health care power of attorney?" Geoff answers these questions and many more for the clients he advises every day. Geoff enjoys getting to know his clients, and meeting with them not only in office, but at their homes, in nursing homes, hospitals at times convenient for their schedules.
Geoff is a Lake County native, born and raised in Painesville. He attended Riverside High School, and is honored to have been inducted to the Riverside Athletic Hall of Fame. After high school he attended Hiram College and the University of Southwest Louisiana, where he wrestled on scholarship. He graduated from University of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette with a bachelor of arts degree. Geoff's legal education was through Loyala University of New Orleans, where he graduated in 1979. He returned to his hometown that same year, hired by the Lake County Prosecutor's Office as an assistant prosecutor. His responsibilities included plea negotiation of felony, misdemeanor and juvenile offenses, participation in bench and jury trials in Juvenile Court, Municipal Court and the Court of Common Pleas and presentation of cases to the Grand Jury for indictment. Geoff opened a part-time private practice in 1981 while continuing as an assistant prosecutor. By 1983 the private practice had grown enough to allow him to leave the Prosecutor's Office for full-time private practice. Between 1987 and 1994, in addition to the full-time private practice, Geoff was the Painesville City Prosecutor and Prosecutor for the Ohio State Patrol. During this time he would periodically be asked to sit as acting judge in Painesville and Mentor Municipal Courts. Over the years, the private practice has evolved. In the beginning Geoff handled the defense of traffic and OVI cases along with business and personal injury matters. The practice has grown to include the formation and representation of small businesses, contract negotiation, drafting agreements for the purchase and sale of businesses and preparation of commercial and residential property purchase agreements along with elder law, estate planning, wills/trusts and probate practice which has always been a staple of his business. In his spare time Geoff enjoys golf, his friends and family and bungee jumping. Ok, maybe not the bungee jumping. QualificationsAreas of Practice
